About Strategic Planning Funding

Option to self-facilitate, have an MSA facilitator, or an external facilitator. Up to 3 hours sessional payment for physicians participating in strategic planning workshop. Additional funding for physician lead based on facilitation option chosen. Funding available for 6 months.

South Island MSA recognizes the need to provide divisions with funding support to undertake collaborative conversations about goals, objectives, and action plans for the group. It is intended that the majority of the division/department will participate in this collaborative work. Please note that we can only compensate those with privileges at RJH and/or VGH.

What could it look like?

Three options are available to support these conversations:

Option	Physician Lead	Participating division/department members
1. A division/department undertakes their own internal strategic planning workshop(s), without help from an outside facilitator (MSA has templates and guides).	Up to 10 hours additional sessional payment for workshop coordination, preparation, facilitation, and follow-up.	Up to 3 hours sessional payment
2. Division/department undertakes strategic planning workshop(s) with support from an MSA Administrator.	Up to 5 hours additional sessional payment for workshop coordination, preparation, and follow-up.	Up to 3 hours sessional payment
3. Division/department undertakes strategic planning workshop with support from an external facilitator (Costs up to $4,000).	Up to 2 hours additional sessional payment for workshop coordination and preparation.	Up to 3 hours sessional payment

Vetted by MSA Administrators, approved by MSA Executive
Proposal Evaluation Criteria:
- Current state of strategic plan
- Urgency based on results of Well Doc survey
Supports available – For groups who wish to self-facilitate, the South Island MSA has developed a Strategic Planning Workshop facilitation guide and report. For groups who wish to access an external facilitator, a list of vetted facilitators is available from info@southislandmsa.ca.
Post-workshop evaluation - sent by MSA administrators to participating group members. Evaluation must be completed before payment and reimbursement is approved.
