Over the next few weeks, we’ll be recognizing those who received South Island MSA Recognition Awards at this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Our next award is for Communications Leadership, someone who has facilitated effective communication between the medical staff, administration, and the Board of Directors of Island Health. The Executive is delighted to recognize Dr. Ian Bekker.
As shared by Dr. Jason Wale, the list of ways that Dr. Bekker has improved communications is long: He has published videos about how to do useful things in Power Chart, developed the Medical Imaging Wait List to better inform patients and providers, worked with Island Health to more clearly title documents they deliver to physicians offices, collaborated with the Health Authority on a standard format for external referral forms (which has now become the provincial standard), established the Physicians Email Enhancement and Management Program to help physicians make Island Health email work for them…the list goes on.
On top of this, Dr. Bekker has contributed significantly to improvements in Long-Term Care, all with a smile on his face.
