We have even more Gold Star stories to celebrate!
A personal thank you from Dr. Elizabeth Ward (via Dr. Alicia Power) to Dr. Brian Farrell:
“Huge appreciation to our emergency medicine colleagues, particularly Dr. Brian Farrell who treated my 4yo with a broken collarbone at RJH today. It was (as always) so busy and you were so kind and reassuring. Thank you”
Dr. Paul Winston wanted to make sure the work, approach, and personal touch of Izzy Morrissey was recognized:
“Izzy Morrissey is our UVic Co-op and research assistant in Rehab Medicine. This UVic student is a powerhouse of compassion and consent. Her way with children and adults is extraordinary. She guides people through fear and concern during medical procedures. She has reorganized and rearranged endless areas of our unfunded clinic and constantly looks for new ways to make the staff and patients feel safe, secure and have a better experience.
For an undergrad, her compassion is endless and she has gone out of her way to look after team members when they were sick. Our clinic is grossly underfunded and she constantly helps the administrative staff to lessen their burden. On top of her school work and job with our team, she is volunteering for numerous areas in Island Health and the community.”
The collegiality of Dr. Danny Jaswal has been thoughtfully recognized by Dr. Alex Hoechsmann:
“Thank you to Dr Danny Jaswal (ICU) for coming down to the ER after midnight to help put a central line in a hypovolemic patient with severe acute renal failure. Dr. Jaswal was courteous and collaborative. By working together and supporting each other as physicians we can make the work of health care more collegial and hence more rewarding.”
Thank you to all the nominators and award winners – your kindness and collegiality make our culture better every day!
