Success Story: South Island MSA Award for Innovation Leadership

This Success Story is a continuation of our weekly series recognizing South Island MSA Annual Award Winners.

On behalf of the team of physicians with whom he works, Dr. Paul Winston provided a glowing nomination for Dr. Daniel Vincent, who is here this evening.

As shared by Dr. Winston, “Dr. Vincent is an amazing clinician with dedication to chronic pain patients as an interventional anesthesiologist for decades.  In the summer of 2017, I contacted him to teach a group of physiatrists to perform a novel assessment of spasticity patients, involving a diagnostic nerve block.  Not only did Dr. Vincent do an incredible teaching session., the blocks were so successful that he suggested we adapt the temporary block to use his anesthetic technique of cryoneurotomy to treat spasticity.  He has spent the last two years refining these techniques for use all over the body.  This ground-breaking work has been presented at conferences in Canada, France, Japan, Denmark, has been accepted for the world’s first publication on how to perform cryoneurotomy for spasticity, and most significantly, has brought life-changing results to patients across Vancouver Island.  It will change the course of spasticity for the world.”

I am delighted to present Dr. Daniel Vincent with a South Island MSA Award for Innovation Leadership.
